作家でスピーカーのDiana Loomans氏の詩、訳してみました。
子育てをしながら、思い出したいこと。
If I had my child to raise over again,
I’d finger paint more, and point the finger less.
I’d do less correcting, and more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less, and know to care more.
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I’d run through more fields, and gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging, and less tugging.
I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I’d teach less about the love of power,
And more about the power of love.
It matters not whether my child is big or small,
From this day forth, I’ll cherish it all.

もし もう一度初めから子育てをやり直すことができたなら・・・
指をさして注意してばかりでなく
その指を一緒にお絵かきすることに使うでしょう
間違いを正す（correction)よりも
もっと繋がりを持つ(connection)ようにするでしょう
時計から目を離し
その目をあなたを見ることに使うでしょう
知るということを思いやるよりも
思いやるということを知ろうとするでしょう
もっと一緒にハイキングして、もっと一緒に凧を飛ばして
真面目であることをやめて
真面目に遊ぶでしょう
もっと野原を駆け回り もっと星を見つめて
引っ張る(tugging)のではなく
もっと抱きしめる(hugging)でしょう
頑なである(firm)代わりに
もっと肯定的(affirm)になるでしょう
あなたの自信を築くのが先で
家を築くのは後でいいのです
力を愛することより
愛の力についてもっと話すでしょう
あなたが大きかろうが小さかろうが 関係なく
今日というこの日から これらのことを大切に抱いていきたい
